4 Nights Wales Explorer

Have you explored Wales recently?
You may find much more than what you first expected.

Cardigan Bay has been declared a special area of conservation; while the bottlenose dolphins may steal the limelight, we must not forget the other fascinating wildlife and habitats, from the most primitive of all living vertebrates, the eel like sea lamprey, to the impressive male Atlantic grey seals that grow up to 2.7m long (9ft). Along this coastline you will find a multitude of small villages and coves to explore, walk and admire. These may include Aberaeron, New Quay, Llangrannog and Mwnt all within easy reach of Falcondale Mansion.

For those wishing for some culture you may wish to visit the National Woollen Museum near Llandysul, only 40 minutes away. With free entry you can enhance your knowledge of the woollen trade that was a source of major industry within this area. Or how about a visit to the Heart of Welsh culture at the National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth?

Walkers (and their dogs) have a plethora of options available, from coastal paths, to woodland walks, hill forts and riverside walks. Included in this package you will receive an OS Explorer map for Lampeter and surrounding area, therefore you can spend hours exploring at the wonders within this largely undiscovered part of Wales. If you happen to get a “little wet” then a drying room is available to make your boots and coats nice and cosy for next time.

The National Trust has several properties in Wales the closest being Llanerchaeron, only 20 minutes away towards Ciliau Aeron where you can experience a wonderful way of life, from the country house and the tranquillity of the walled gardens, to the activity on the farm. Pan for gold at Dolaucothi Gold mines, visit Dinefwr park and castle or see a striking 13th century ruined castle in Cilgerran.

If you would like to be a bit more active then have a ride on the Vale of Rheidol Railway to Devil’s Bridge, karting and paintballing are available at Cardikarts, or try your hand at clay pigeon shooting and quad biking at Llanerchindda Farm near Llandovery. Bring your bike along with you.

Garden lovers are in for a treat with a vast amount of gardens available for visiting in the area. Spend all day at the National Botanical Gardens with its large “glasshouse” and double-walled gardens. Visit Aberglasney, which features one of the most spectacular gardens in Wales and is an inspiration to many poets since 1477. TyGlyn Davis Trust gardens are set amongst mature woodlands along the banks of the Aeron River and has a beautifully restored walled garden. Cae hir is set in 6 acres of former rough pasture land and have matured and grown since their creation 20 years ago into one of the country’s most highly acclaimed gardens; now one of the Royal Horticultural Society’s Partner Gardens.
